The BIG "3" Birthday Vacation in Bangkok Part Two - 2016

Continuation from Part One ~~~

30-Sep-2016 (Friday)

The day I officially turned 30! I don't know to be happy or sad - happy because I learn and grow with wisdom as I aged, sad because I turned a year OLDER. :x

I woke up earlier to go shopping for lingerie at the department store below the hotel. Isetan was having promotion (buy 3 Wacoal items, 15% discount), Zen was having promotion of buying 5000 bhat of Wacoal items, 1000 bhat discount. I decided to buy from Isetan instead and even got VAT refund for purchases over 2000 bhat. Wacoal & Triumph lingerie are really very cheap in bangkok! :)

While walking back to the hotel to meet the bf to go lunch, I noticed that "Kiss the Tiramisu" cafe is available at Central World (which means I do not have to walk to Siam for it).

I wanted to try Bar-B-Q Plaza mookata but it was always long queue as usual!

I was already very hungry so the bf suggest a japanese restaurant opposite Bar-B-Q Plaza. We shared a set meal and it was indeed delicious - he fell in love with the fried chicken!

It was dessert after lunch! I was his queen for the day :p

150 Bhat [S$5.91]

The ice-cream doesn't have much Tiramisu taste, loads of cheese/cream at the bottom of the wine glass. This cafe is opening in Singapore soon at Orchard Gateway.

We walked to Chidlom BTS station to take the BTS to Asok station where Terminal 21 shopping mall was located at. It's my first time to Terminal 21 - there were every cities theme on each level such as Italy, London, Tokyo, Paris etc.

My main aim was to go to the Jelly Bunny store in this mall - the jelly shoes are slightly cheaper than Singapore. I bought 2 pairs (including 1 for the bf's sister).

We went up to the last level when the foodcourt was located at - lots of food varieties!

We shopped around after eating. There was a Daiso store at the basement of the mall - everything at 60 bhat [S$2.36], it is slightly expensive than Singapore. I bought a minnie mouse rice scoop from there, the 1st time for our love nest. LOL~~

We walked over to Sukhumvit MRT station to take the train to Kamphaeng Phet station (chaktuchak)) where it was the 1st day of the opening of ARTBOX Thailand. But honestly speaking, do not waste your time to go to ARTBOX, it was so small and mostly are repeated stalls selling same type of drinks/food. :(

I have read from elsewhere that this current ART BOX are really so much smaller than previous one.

I was there for less than 30 minutes and decided to leave (the sky was dark and could feel slight drizzle).

We took the train to Thailand Cultural Center Station, look out for the Esplanade mall. Walk straight in to the mall and there should be an exit that leads you the newer train market (Rot Fai Market Ratchada).

**Credits to Google Image

The drizzling was getting slightly heavier but still alright. The night market has a number of outdoor bars which were quite cool. I immediately try to find the stall which serve the super big bowl of noodle - 300 bhat [S$11.81].

The bowl is indeed huge and the 2 of us could not finish it - it doesn't really taste fantastic and we got sick of it pretty quick!  :( It was an unsatisfying meal.  We walked around buying some finger food and I forgotten to try the lobster noodle which my cousin told me! :( Till next time then!

We walked around for abit and feel that time was running short as we wanted to go to Big C Center to get our Pocky snacks. We decided to take a tuk-tuk there, journey was fast & furious, I injured my back when it travelled to fast over rocky roads. :x

We reached Big C before 9pm and bought our snacks - we did not buy as much as previous time. We had a slight argument because I wanted help him carry stuff but the don't want let me then we had a slight quarrel. Well, misunderstanding because I wanted help him but he don't want me carry heavy stuff. Sigh!

Upon reaching the room, I saw the birthday cake surprise from the hotel.

My 7th cake this year

Thank  you Centara Grand Central World!

The bf suggested to go to the bar area at Central World - where there were live bands, he ordered beers and finger food and I only had soft drink.

It was back to the hotel to pack our luggage and we slept really late that night!

01-Oct-2016 (Saturday)

I woke up real early (the bf continue his sleep) despite sleeping late the previous night! I had to go to the Levi's store at Big C center to help my mum buy jeans which was quite cheap, around SGD $40 plus! I also went to the Boots pharmacy and help friends/relatives to buy medicine till around 2000bhat and I can claim VAT refund too! :)

It was back to the hotel for last minute packing and we checked out around 1pm.

We wanted to try Bar-B-Q plaza but it was still as crowded as usual! We had no choice but to try another Chinese restaurant instead. The dimsum was good but we paid around S$40 plus for it but the bf said it's worth it!

We walked over to Platinum mall for some last minute shopping and we even had foot massage [250 bhat for one hour] at the 5th level of Platinum mall 2.

The place was small but service was alright. The bf had foot and back massage but he said that the back massage was torturing him. :p

We walked back to Central World - am so gonna miss it here, full of memories!

I wanted to try Kyo Roll En cafe, but it was 5.30pm already but the bf said 6pm go airport still ok.

The chocolate-strawberry swissroll is really yummy!! The charcoal ice-cream has got no taste and we dip it with strawberry sauce.  Leaving the place with a heavy heart to the airport~~

Thankful for these memories as we grow old together! Thank you, my love :)

As I grow older, I have seen and experienced many things in life especially rs, friendships, kinship and it made me realized who are the ones who truly treasure a relationship/friendship. I'm also disappointed in some other people who have been taking my friendship/kinship for granted for years and I'm no longer soft-hearted or affected like before. I'm willing to let go of the friendship/kinship which I'm holding on for many years.

Human should give and take, think for one another and give in at times, we should not only think for ourselves but spare a thought for others too. I cannot expect friends to have the same thoughts as me - I'm foolish in a certain way.  I learnt as I grow each day :))

Goodbye to those people in my life - our lives may have crossed path before but you are no longer worth my time in my life anymore.  When time passes, those people will know who they are and why I let go of them. Indeed too much disappointment :( Nonetheless, thank you for teaching me a lesson! :D

The BIG "3" Birthday Vacation in Bangkok Part One - 2016

This year's birthday is a little special because I get to spend it overseas with my love! This was an impromptu decision because we only bought our tickets in August. :)

Jetstar for 2 (including taxes, 30kg from SG and 50kg coming back from BKK): S$230
3 nights accomodation (including taxes): S$369 [original price was S$500 plus ]

**Accomodation was at Centara Grand at CentralWorld (which is above S.E.A largest mall)

If you need some "tricks" on how to get more discounts on booking accomodation, please feel free to drop me a message, I can help. I managed to apply 2 types of discount which explains why the accomodation is so much cheaper.

28-Sep-2016 (Wednesday)

Our flight was at 10.45am, I did not want an early flight so that it will not be so rushed for us. I wanted a more relax trip! We reached the airport at 8.30am though, there's ample time before the flight!

How can I forget an ootd at the airport? :p

I always grumbled at the mister for lousy photoshoot. :x I need to train him more. :p

We managed to sleep a while on the flight and landed in Bangkok around 12.20 BKK time. By the time we reached the hotel by taxi (410 Bhat), it was nearly 2pm. The room was not ready so we had to go for lunch as my tummy was growling.

The hotel lobby was located on 23rd level and we had to take the lift down to 7th level, walked a few steps via the multi-storey carpark which is connected to the foodhall/supermarket of Central World. There were so many restaurants on the 7th level of the mall and I saw some of the cafes/eateries which I'm interested in!

We proceeded to the 6th level where I wanted to bring the mister to Yum Saap - my all-time favourite local Thai restaurant which was pocket-friendly. (But then, I realised Bangkok is no longer as affordable/cheap like before. Maybe it is still cheaper than SG but not like before!)

This cost around S$20 - the pandan leaves chicken was really yummilicious!

10am-10pm daily

After we finished the meal, I told the mister I wanted to eat the ice cream in the form of a rose. The cafe is located on the 7th level. I chose the extra dark & chocolate mint flavour. Price: 159 bhat (S$6.26)

He always patterns many many - wanted me take photos of him giving me eat the ice-cream and presenting me the "flower". This was the first "flower" he bought for me - more practical. While eating halfway, I saw a small cockroach near the seat of the cafe so I decided to make a move. :(

Central World 7th Level
10.30am-9.30pm daily

Our room was ready by then! We gotten a room on the 41st level - 4123.

Although the exterior of the hotel looks grand, the interior was a little old already. There was a huge bathtub too! The view was overlooking Siam Paragon too which was just a short walking distance away via the skybridge connecting to Central World.

We rested a while before making our way to Siam area because I want to check out Melissa Shoes for the kids. Melissa shoes are much cheaper in Bangkok but there was no sale during the time I went. Though it is still cheaper than SG but I understand that it can get as cheap as S$30 - S$60 when there are SALES!

I chose Greyhound Cafe at Siam Center for dinner - this is my favourite place for their crabmeat pasta and mini chicken wings! I'm so disappointed in this place now - service was really bad and the food standard has dropped! They will be opening a branch in Singapore (Paragon), I hope they maintained the good standard and service for it.

This meal cost around S$35.00 . I left with disappointed tummy. :(

11am-10pm

We walked for quite a while around Siam Square street night markets (fyi, the street markets are no longer available) before heading to Chang Massage which is highly recommended in most blogs. I have always go to Chang Massage in the past - it cost 300 bhat (S$11.80) per hour for body/foot massage. You can easily find any massage parlours anywhere in bangkok from 150 bhat to 400 bhat per hour.

It's back to hotel for the night's rest as I was feeling quite tired although it was only 10pm.

29-Sep-2016 (Thursday)

I was thinking to go shopping on my own in the morning so that I can let the mister sleep more. I was surprised that he woke up and asked if I wanted to go swimming. He wanted to swim while I just want to wear bikini and soak in the water. (No bikini photos because my mum and mister will kill me if I uploaded any :p).

The mister was craving for the Soi 19 Wanton mee though this was not in my itinerary. So we ended up having wanton mee & pig trotter for brunch. The price has increased to 100 bhat (S$3.94)! It was twice the price as before! There was a reason why it cost 100 bhat now - there was real crabmeat in the wanton mee now, but portion still very small.

There's no branch in SG at all so don't compare the noodles between SG and BKK. The pig trotter was so good that I keep eating non-stop! I think our meal cost around S$16 - quite expensive.

It was shopping at platinum mall after brunch and I only shopped for few items this time round. Things were really not cheap like before! We shopped till around 4pm and we had our tea break at the foodcourt. We had fish maw soup and pad thai  -- the pad thai was not nice!

Coconut taste the best when in Thailand!

We dabao the Mango sticky rice which was really good!

I saw that the 6th level had undergone through some major changes and there's a beauty buffet shop now where I can get really nice handcream! I fell in love with the handcream which Jia bought for me before. :) There's a provision shop there which sell certain items cheaper than Big C hypermarket - I bought the Nestea (thai milktea) at 90 bhat (S$3.54).

We headed back to the hotel after the shopping and I went alone to the Jelly Dreams store and bought 3 pairs of Melissa Kids shoes. We were supposed to go to the night market but decided to postpone to the next day because we decided to shop 5000 bhat (S$196.85) at Central World so that we can get the Ralph Lauren bag. We had no idea what else to buy - the mister pulled me into Michael Kors, Kate Spade & Coach and insisted to get a bag/wallet for me. I keep rejecting because I wanted us to save the money and I still have my Prada wallet in good condition and my mum has gotten me a new bag lately too.

I decided to get a Cath Kidston x Winnie the Pooh pouch because Cath Kidston launched this new disney collection on 27-Sep-2016. There's also a 5% discount for tourists. :) Thanks the mister for paying it.

We decided to dabao the street stall grilled fish back to the hotel for dinner because the mister wanted to go to the rooftop bar. There's an event outside Central World which sell creative drinks & food so I got the flavoured honey lemon drink and octopus balls too.

By the time we finished dinner, it was around 10.30pm. The dresscode was smart casual so we changed and took the lift to the 54th level. Service was so-so at the bar *shake-head*.

The mister suddenly kissed me and said "Happy Birthday Baby" , I checked the timing, it was 12 midnight SG time (11pm BKK time). The mister is always so cheeky yet romantic when he feels like it.

We moved up 1 more level to 55th level where the rooftop bar was located at. It has very nice and romantic view!

All of a sudden, I can feel raindrops! It started from slight drizzling to heavier raindrops so we moved to other seats but still seeing the beautiful view. A cake was suddenly placed on our table - the mister had arranged this surprise during our shopping at Central World - I feel so loved by him as always! Thanks for everything you have done for me! :)

I think this is such a long post, will update in 2 different posts! :)

Novotel Bangkok Platinum Pratunam Hotel Executive Suite

I just travelled to +66 (Bangkok) in April this  year with my boy and it's our 1st official trip, had a super enjoyable & great time with him! :)

We booked the trip quite last minute and we decided to take Singapore Airlines because there was promotional price at around $280 per pax. It was also nice that Novotel (I'm an Accor member so I get to earn points) has a promotion then which was stay 3 nights pay 2 nights! The boy and me decided to go for the excutive suites (there were only 11 suites room)  and the only room type with bathtub. The original price was S$900 plus for 3 nights but due to the promotion, we only paid around S$600. This price also includes unlimited beverages, free flow of dessert buffet & alcohol from 5-7pm daily.

Instead of the usual check-in lobby at level 6, we were brought to the Premium lounge on 24th level, as if we were VIPs. :p

We did our check-in and were being served our welcome drink.

The service of the staff was awesome and we were given our room card quite fast (we were assigned to the room on 21st level with beautiful view). We decided to head up to the room first at 4.30pm as it was fast approaching 5pm which was the dessert buffet time!

The free beverages which is available to executive suite guests

The executive suite consists of a living room, a bedroom, bathtub with separate toilet & shower facilities and there were televisions in both living room and bedroom. It was pretty spacious for the both of us.

It is totally heaven!!! :D

We headed up to the premium lounge at 5pm, here are the shots of the dessert buffet.

The one who is most happy is my boy because there are free flow of alcohol!

It was basically a very relaxing trip for us, we rested most of the time in the room especially him! He would take nap after breakfast and afternoon sleep too, while I would go shopping myself in Platinum mall too. My boy also accompany me to shop, seeking his opinion on the clothes I bought and paying for it. He was having blisters on his legs, therefore he rested in room most of the time.

Breakfast buffet is included too, there wasn't much varieties but the egg omelette and pancake are nice!

Because the service at the premium lounge is so good that my boy went up to the lounge on our last night to give tips to 2 staff there who have been serving us often.

Below are some photos I took of the pool area and bar area where they have live bands every night.

This hotel also provides complimentary TukTuk service to nearby areas such as Big C, Siam Paragon, MBK etc from 10am-7pm.

Thanks my boy for such a memorable trip and I'm looking forward to our next trip soon. :)
