Tanuki Raw - Oysters at $2 each

We would usually find fresh oysters in buffets and not much places are selling oysters at a cheaper price. We were rather happy to know that this restaurant do serve fresh oysters at $2 each during happy hours from 5-8pm. 

Of course, this comes with a condition - you have to order a drink and there is a limit of 6 oysters per drink. If we ordered 2 drinks, we can order up till 12 oysters! Here is the happy hours deal which I gotten from their website. 

    $2 for freshly shucked oysters (limit 6 per drink)
    $7 for 5 slices of salmon sashimi
    $10 martinis
    $10 pints of beer
    $11 classic cocktails

It was a belated birthday treat for Ms Lim and she chose this place for the dinner. She reached first so she chose the outdoor dining area where we can have a view of Orchard road (it can be noisy with cars such as Lamborghini zooming passed).

Ms Lim ordered Cosmopolitan ($10) while I ordered The Bee's Knee ($12) which is gin + lime juice. We ordered a dozen of Oysters ($24), salmon belly sashimi ($8) and Chicken of the Sea ($9) sushi roll for the first round.

The oysters were fresh & sweet, no "fishy" smell at all which I loved a lot. The cocktail drink (The Bee's Knee) which I ordered was refreshing with the taste of lime, tasted more like lime juice since I'm now not very good at drinking like before. I do not really like alcohol taste now. As for the salmon belly sashimi, it is simply the best! The slices are thick and fresh, it kind of melt away in mouth the moment I chewed on it. The Chicken of the sea sushi roll was good with the salmon and chicken floss. But we were still not full so we ordered another plate of salmon belly sashimi & swordfish sashimi ($12). We also ordered another Rockstar sushi roll ($10).

The sashimi was really fresh, although prices were a little on the high side for the swordfish sashimi. As for the Rockstar sushi roll, I find it ok-ok only, because the cheese were a little too dry inside. I think besides the oysters and drinks during happy hours, the other items were a little pricey.

We headed over to November 8 Coffee & Company for waffles dessert after Tanuki Raw. I really love this cafe, the crowd was still ok, no long waiting time. 

We ordered the berrilicious waffles ($9) with lychee ice-cream & we added another scoop of rum & raisin ice-cream ($2.50). I wanna raved about the ice-cream here! They did not disappoint, Ms lim & her 2nd sister who joined us for waffles also agreed that the ice-cream tasted really good! The lychee has a strong sweet lychee taste, and I'm not really a fan of rum & raisin flavour, but the rum & raisin ice-cream really wows me! In my previous post, I love the taro ice-cream too. 

I also tried the cappuccino this time round, it's good! I think I prefer the cappuccino to the cafe latte. Since this cafe open till 12 midnight, it will be our new chill-out place in future since it is so near to where we stayed.

Chinese New Year 2014~~~

Today is 立春, the actual CNY on every year 4th Feb. 杰思琳祝大家恭喜发财， 心想事成， 马到成功！

I had a long break (on leave) during this CNY starting the eve of CNY's eve. It was a very good break but I think I'm about to fall sick at this moment. :( Anyway, back to the CNY holidays, this blog entry would be more of photos rather than words.

I woke up very early on 1st day of CNY as I wanted to go collect pencai instead, but the person overslept and said he would deliver to me instead free of charge. :) I walked over to his house to bai nian and had very yummy steamboat lunch, especially the soup which made me crave for it everytime I think about it. :) It was really delicious! I headed to my grandma's house around 2.30pm with the pencai.

We ordered the usual buffet this time round from Jessie catering! I think it was normal and should not hold higher expectations for catering during festive season.

As for CNY Day 2, it was spent at the 1st Aunt's house as per every year routine. Aunt did not cook this year and had catered buffet too from Ye Lai Siang Catering.

After dinner, I met him to go to the River Angbao to experience the CNY mood. I haven't been to the river angbao for many years! I also hope to do it yearly too. 

Coming next to Day 3 of CNY, it was nothing much but spend the afternoon at a relative's house at the peak at TPY! I had steamboat again and it was nice too! I can never have enough of steamboat which is my favourite! I also had a few games on blackjack and it was winning streak for me! But I lost a lot at mahjong. :( I think it is not a good year to gamble for Tiger! I shall cut down on mahjong now for this year!

CNY activities

I left around 7pm and head to AMK hub to meet uncle family at Swensen as it was Aunt's bday! Happy Birthday my dear aunt! I also went Loyang Tua Pekong with him at night to pray for a good smooth year ahead and we had supper at the 89.7 supper club too, the fish & chips is good! :) I haven't been to Changi area for a long time and it really changes alot. 

This CNY left me in quite a number of awkward situation. :( Some asked me about my wedding, while some gave me angbaos hoping I can meet a better man who dote on me. My mum also never say such things before, but this year when she gave me angbao, she wished that I can meet a good guy who will not hurt me. I wanna cry at that instance. Well, the past is over and I can only look forward is what I have been telling myself! :) I hope to meet a better one and nice guy (rich or not rich or whatever doesn't matter, most impt is to go through thick & thin together and be there for each other). I have also received recorded videos from ex-colleague who hope I can be a bride in the year of Horse so he can rub some good luck off me. Haha that makes me very touched! I have received all your wishes, and I appreciate that. I leave it all to fate. If it is mine, it will eventually be. :) Thank you all of you for loving me and doting on me all the while.. :) Happy CNY!

Christmas 2013 with Family~~~

Christmas this year falls on Wednesday and it was somewhat different from before... We had our family gathering at cousin's house for the first time! She ordered Neogarden buffet which was convenient too so nobody needs to cook.

I went out early on Christmas day and travel to Takashimaya alone to get the Christmas cake from Rive Gauche. It was kind of crowded in Orchard as many people were doing Christmas shopping! I shopped around the toys fair and got some toys for the kids. I was carrying so much heavy items and worried the cake may be destroyed at any other times. :p I delivered the toys and headed to my cousin's house at Bishan, can't wait to see my darling god-daughter! I peeped into the room, thinking that she's still sleeping, but there she was standing there and looking at the door, isn't that adorable? :) Her grandma dressed her up, and I suggested the "Red/Green" theme, so she was dressed in a red dress too! I wore my new Man United Polo Top that day, and I like it a lot!

I'm really thankful for having these bunch of people in my life who are my family & relatives! Our bond are so close throughout so many years, helping one another when we have issues. I'm thankful for my aunties & uncles who love me soooo much and not forgetting my grandma who meant the most to me! Though I'm the 3rd eldest, but many of my younger cousins really dote on me too and being there for me, and not forgetting my adorable god-daughter! Thanks for all of you being there for me through my difficult times and making me feel loved always! I know I'm blessed to have you all in my life! I promise I will not let all of you down and will live my life more meaningful! I can't wait to gather with you guys again during CNY.. Hugs & kisses~~~
