Pince & Pints - All About LOBSTERS

The latest lobsters craze in Singapore - I been following instagram of famous bloggers, thus knowing the existence of this new restaurant.

I guess many of us are familiar with the online blogshop - Love, Bonito. 2 of the co-founders who happened to be husband & wife left Love, Bonito and set up this restaurant!

When it first opened its doors, there were crazy queue outside the restaurant, waiting time could take up till more than 2 hours. :( Even if you had queued up, you might not be able to get a table at all because it's past their operation hours. I decided to wait till the craze died down.

When Ms Lim asked me where I would like to go for birthday dinner, I suggested Pince & Pints since she also wants to try it too. This means that we had to knock off on the dot and make our way to the restaurant, worrying there might be a long queue. I was late, so Ms Lim reached first at around 7.20pm so she was lucky that the waiting time was around 20 minutes.

By the time I reached, it was just nice that a table was available. But since it needed to be cleaned up, we waited outside which not well-ventilated and the staff was very nice to provide us with ice water which we needed badly.

The menu was quite simple - there are only 4 types of lobsters on the Menu. Steamed/Grilled Lobster, Lobster Roll & Lobster in Chilli Crab sauce - all at the price of S$48 before service charge & GST.

I ordered the Lobster Roll and Bee's Knee cocktail while Ms Lim ordered the Steamed Lobster and a cocktail which I have forgotten the name.

Service was pretty good, the staff are attentive and explained to you about the menus too.

Our food arrived pretty fast. I can't wait to dig in the food upon seeing it!!

The lobster flesh is sweet and juicy! As for the lobster roll, after eating for some time, I do get a little sick of it because of the soggy texture at the bottom of the roll.

Ms Lim and the staff also arranged a surprise for me! A slice of birthday cake and thank you Ms Lim for the COACH wristlet, I really appreciate it. Thanks for your companionship since young and for being there to lend me a listening ear always. :)

The Coffee Daily @ Serangoon Garden Estate

For the past one year, I have seen blog posts on this cafe which is famous for their rainbow cake! The address gave me the thought that it's somewhere far away from where I stayed, till I googled it and realised it's in fact in Serangoon area.

I finally saw it when I was taking bus 136 to Kovan one day, it's located 2 bus stops after Chomp Chomp and near the private residential area. After so long, I finally went to try it out after treating the cousin to Shabu Shabu lunch at Heartland mall.

It was not very crowded when I went on a Sunday afternoon. The moment I stepped in, it felt like I'm in the 60s. The cafe's design were pretty unique with several items which I had seen in my grandma's house in the past.

It's not a very big place either.

Menus were at the cashier, so the cousin and me walked over to the counter to look at the selections of cakes. The rainbow cake left the last piece, and it costs $10 per slice, not very cheap.

I ordered a Cappuccino ($5) and Rainbow Cake ($10), the sister order a Ice Rich Chocolate ($6.50) and the cousin ordered a Ice Caffe Latte ($6) and a Banana Cake ($6.50).

There's even old school complimentary biscuits for the customers too, just help yourself to it. :)

Banana Cake

Cappuccino

Ice Caffe Latte

Ice Rich Chocolate

Rainbow Cake

The cousin & sister liked the Banana cake but not the rainbow cake. The rainbow cake reminded me of the song "Somewhere over the rainbow", it looks good but doesn't taste that well. Maybe it's a little too sweet to us, and I think because of the colorings which made up the rainbow colors.

Well, the cappuccino is pretty good, not too acidic for me. This is a good place to chill out in the afternoon since the ambience is quite quiet.

Thanks Cousin for the treat! :)

One Man Coffee - Cafe at Upper Thomson Road

I have heard of this cafe some time ago and I think it is less than a year old. I did went the other time but it was kind of small indoor so I went to Habitat Coffee the other time.

I used to walk past this stretch of shophouses and this place serves Pizza at night so I guess One Man Coffee is sharing the rental. So it is a cafe during day time and a Pizza bistro in the evening! If you are not able to find this cafe, it is just few doors away from Habitat Coffee.

CRUST is where One Man Coffee is located at

Really love this outdoor seat but the heat is unbearable so I prefer indoor seat

I was meeting the cousin & Ms lim for KTV that day and Ms lim suggested brunch at this cafe as she ate there once before and it was good. Ms lim reached first and got us seats and we bumped into her 3rd sis who's having brunch there with her son.

Menu

There was not much selections on the menu. Ms lim wanted to try the Brioche French Toast with Homemade Berry Compote, Candied Walnuts & Fresh Cream ($10) + Iced Mocha with extra shot ($7.50). Huishan ordered the Big Brekkie ($12) + Butter Mushrooms add-on ($2) and a Iced Mocha ($6.50). I finally decided on GasHouse Egg with Bacon Jam [Egg-in-the-bread-with-the-hole-in-the-middle] ($10) + Butter Mushrooms add-on ($2) and a Cappuccino ($4.50). 三姐 ordered a Toasted Honey Ham & Cheese Croissant ($6) + an Organic Cola ($6).

Place order & make payment at the counter

The prices are NETT price with NO service charge & GST! Thanks 三姐 for this treat. :)

My cappuccino

I can say this is added to one of the best cappuccinos on my list now. I love the coffee taste/aroma of this cafe brew.

Iced Mocha

I tried the Iced Mocha a little and it is really nice! It is not so sweet and the chocolate taste is not very strong either, just nice and one of the nice mocha I ever had.

Toasted Honey Ham & Cheese Croissant

GasHouse Egg with Bacon Jam

Brioche French Toast with Homemade Berry Compote, Candied Walnuts & Fresh Cream

Big Brekkie

Organic Cola

Affaogato $5

I heard that the Toasted Honey Ham & Cheese croissant is quite good, I'm going to try that next time! Ms lim cut a portion of her french toast for me, and I must said the taste is quite special, something worth to try if you are heading there. As for the toast with egg in the hole, it is really good especially with the bacon jam which is unique. I'm not a fan of bacon but this bacon is chopped into pieces and look sort of like hei-bi-hiam and goes well with the toast! As for the big brekkie, I think it is quite common except that the toast was a little hard but the 6-minute egg was quite good. One more thing to mention, the butter mushroom which I added on was quite good! I really love this cafe.

It can get very crowded and if you can bear the heat, you should be able to get an outdoor seat, else I will prefer the indoor seats instead!
