2nd Anniversary at Cocobolo Poolside Bar + Grill

Times flies ~~~ We have known each other for 3 years but together 2 years only - our daily lives are like old couple, no gifts on occasions and spending time with each other once or twice a week only. :(

I have been feeling so tired because my house have been going through a revamp - changed the sofa, shoes cabinet, whole set of air-conditioners and now bed-frames and mattresses! The mister insisted to meet for dinner on Tuesday (actual day of anniversary), so I am quite important to him. :p

I'm so surprised that he got a Kate Spade bag for me because he will never want to buy stuff that are too expensive (maybe only stingy to himself). I have eyed on this bag since a month ago and he knows it. :) Thank you Baby <3

We had our dinner on a Friday (23rd Dec) because he has won a dinner voucher previously by taking part in a radio station contest. Dinner was at Park Hotel, Clarke Quay area. I'm sorry that my following post may sound angry/offensive because I had encountered bad services and people cutting my queue at Taxi Stand.

I'm glad that we don't have to pay for this dinner because I will not want to spend the price on such ambience/food. :)

The poolside are was small, there were ants on the tables and the ambience made me felt itchy all over. We told the staff about the voucher and he said it's alright and showed us to our seat. It was all BBQ stuff, salad bar and some dessert counter. I only had a steak, some sotongs, 2 prawns and that's it! I told the mister I will not go again even if it was for free.

Halfway through the meal, the staff came and told us we cannot use the voucher because it is festive season. The voucher can only used on Fri, Sat & Sun and is valid till 29-Dec-2016 so 23rd Dec is the last day we can use the voucher since 24th is eve and 25th is public holiday. I told the staff that we are not using on the eve and they never state that 23rd is festive season. The mister was getting angry (he is a quiet person and very nice always but when he know that fault is not with him, he will argue the reason)! He demanded to see the manager - the staff went to check with another colleague and they allow us to utilise the voucher (we not gian png type, we can pay if we want). After that, NOBODY came to clear our plates or refill our water when there were not many customers! I was so angry that I wanted to leave but it was raining heavily so we had to wait till the rain stopped! Argh~~~~  I don't think I will want to go back there again!

I had a black face while walking to Clarke Quay where we wanted to have drinks - encounter another super rude service at Wings bar. I walked to the table with 3 seats but the waitress said I can only take the seat for 2. Ok Fine! Then 2 groups of 2 people came and they took those tables with 3 seats -.-" what is this?!

It really spoilt my night and luckily we managed to get a table at Shuffle Bistro Bar where I can listen to some nice songs performed by liveband.

After some time there, the mister suggested HaiDiLao for Supper and oh ya, it was my 2nd HDL within a day because I had HDL with colleagues for lunch. :p This made me cheer up a little yet feel sleepy already :D

We finished at around 2.15am and while queuing at the taxi stand, there were many people who were drunk and they were still in the queue. While it was my turn, I saw this lady dressed in sleeveless top and denim jeans who were pretending to text suddenly appeared in front of me and the next thing I knew is, she walked to the taxi and got in. I immediately shouted "Oei! Cut queue, you don't know how to queue up is it!". The taxi coordinator knew what was happening but he was stunned too. The guilty lady dare not look at me - I just wanted to make her malu of her own actions. I should have just got in the passenger seat and demand her to get off the cab (my mood was super bad that day!).

Thinking of it, I still feel 不甘心 to let someone cut my queue while waiting for taxis.

Day 2 of Taiwan 2016 - Taipei

Continued from Day 1

We woke up a little later on the 2nd day because we do not want to make our trip very rushed! I wanted to do some cafe-exploring during this trip too and my mister go wherever I want to go :)

I also want to buy the new Tsum Tsum shoes collection at SOGO at Zhongxiao Fusing but sadly, they ran out of sizes.  :( [Luckily the sis is going Taiwan pretty soon so I can get her to help me buy again :p]

We took the mrt to Zhongsan Mrt station exit 3, turned left and the follow the street till we see Lane 16 - there's a whole stretch of cafe there!)

I wanted to try the Melange cafe because of the strawberry waffles!

There are 2 branches of Melange Cafe on the same stretch of road. I went to the main branch and there were many people waiting - queue numbers will be distributed.

I do not want to wait long so I opted for the outside seat, since the weather was cooling too.

To my disappointment, the strawberry waffles were not available. :( I had no choice but to order the banana red bean chocolate waffle and Ice fruit tea. We also add an additional pizza bread toast.

米朗琪咖啡館
台北市中山北路二段16巷23號

The waffles were so-so, not too bad. The only one thing I had praises for was the fruit tea - it was so yummilicious and I could never find such taste in Singapore!

That area was pretty nice to shop around if you have time - there's 微风广场, StayReal shop, 小三美日铺子 etc.

We had planned to visit Danshui (including hotspring) if we have time but we decided to drop hotspring in the end because we shopped at Danshui till pretty late!

It was a Sunday and  淡水老街 was crowded with families - this is also one of the area which I liked to visit everytime I'm in Taipei!

My sis has instructed me that she wants 阿婆铁蛋 (only this brand and not other brands, fyi 阿婆铁蛋 cost NT100 while other brands cost NT50 only) -.-"

I have also bought 合益鱼酥 (NT50, not that salty) which my grandma loves so much!

My best buy from Danshui was 3 pairs of authentic Hello Kitty shoes and a pair of Thomas & train shoes for my godchildren and the mister's nieces! Per pair cost only SGD $16.90 and this is my 2nd time buying from the same shop. My godchildren love them too! I'm happy as long as they love it. :)

We left Danshui around 7pm and reach our hotel around 8pm, we decided to rest and watch the TV (there were so many channels) before heading out for mala steamboat! It was raining to so the weather was perfect.

Since I had tried 天外天 before, I decided to give 马辣麻辣火锅 a try after hearing how good and atas it was! I totally regretted my decision, I will never go 马辣 again because the food varieties cannot compare to 天外天 and it's service was quite bad. For steamboat buffet, there was a limit of 2 hours and they were pretty strict about it.

We waited a while before we got our table at 9.40pm and the person said we had to leave at 11.30pm.

For NT598 per pax, free flow of beer and meat are included in the buffet (worth than the shabu shabu in Singapore). There are free flow of prawns, huge scallops etc so the mister was eating prawns & scallops non-stop (I'm so worried about his cholesterol -.-)

What I loved about  麻辣火锅 is there are loads of duck blood cube in the 麻辣 soup base! Whenever I'm in Taiwan, I will eat the duck/pig blood everyday :)

I will go to 天外天麻辣火锅 next time since it is located in Ximending too, same as
马辣.

Anyway when it was 11.30pm, we were trying to finish up the current food, the staff will keep telling you numerous times that we have to leave! I mean, can't they give us 10 minutes more and there were no crowd and still plenty of empty tables around. The mister also doesn't feel full so we had no choice but to go to 7 to buy beers, snacks etc.

I also bought Mickey mouse pants for my godson and he bought a minnie mouse dress for his niece. There were still many pushcarts (illegal)in Ximending as late as 1, 2 am.

Marriott Hotel High Tea Buffet

It was Marriott Hotel's 20th Anniversary this year therefore they have a promotion for High Tea at $20++ . Upon knowing that, I immediately asked another 3 colleagues to take half day to go for the high tea and called 2 months in advance to book it.

But 2 colleagues could not make it last minute on that day so Nelly and me decided to go ahead with the high tea. I even jio-ed Mum along since she's on leave too and she knows Nelly quite well.

This is gonna be a photo post of the food varieties available at the High Tea buffet.

The price $20++ for the high tea buffet is really so worth it as the usual price is $39++ .

My mum always said Nelly is like a daughter to her and I'm so glad I known her as a colleague to a friend and treat her like an elder sister too! *thankful*

Novotel Bangkok Platinum Pratunam Hotel Executive Suite

I just travelled to +66 (Bangkok) in April this  year with my boy and it's our 1st official trip, had a super enjoyable & great time with him! :)

We booked the trip quite last minute and we decided to take Singapore Airlines because there was promotional price at around $280 per pax. It was also nice that Novotel (I'm an Accor member so I get to earn points) has a promotion then which was stay 3 nights pay 2 nights! The boy and me decided to go for the excutive suites (there were only 11 suites room)  and the only room type with bathtub. The original price was S$900 plus for 3 nights but due to the promotion, we only paid around S$600. This price also includes unlimited beverages, free flow of dessert buffet & alcohol from 5-7pm daily.

Instead of the usual check-in lobby at level 6, we were brought to the Premium lounge on 24th level, as if we were VIPs. :p

We did our check-in and were being served our welcome drink.

The service of the staff was awesome and we were given our room card quite fast (we were assigned to the room on 21st level with beautiful view). We decided to head up to the room first at 4.30pm as it was fast approaching 5pm which was the dessert buffet time!

The free beverages which is available to executive suite guests

The executive suite consists of a living room, a bedroom, bathtub with separate toilet & shower facilities and there were televisions in both living room and bedroom. It was pretty spacious for the both of us.

It is totally heaven!!! :D

We headed up to the premium lounge at 5pm, here are the shots of the dessert buffet.

The one who is most happy is my boy because there are free flow of alcohol!

It was basically a very relaxing trip for us, we rested most of the time in the room especially him! He would take nap after breakfast and afternoon sleep too, while I would go shopping myself in Platinum mall too. My boy also accompany me to shop, seeking his opinion on the clothes I bought and paying for it. He was having blisters on his legs, therefore he rested in room most of the time.

Breakfast buffet is included too, there wasn't much varieties but the egg omelette and pancake are nice!

Because the service at the premium lounge is so good that my boy went up to the lounge on our last night to give tips to 2 staff there who have been serving us often.

Below are some photos I took of the pool area and bar area where they have live bands every night.

This hotel also provides complimentary TukTuk service to nearby areas such as Big C, Siam Paragon, MBK etc from 10am-7pm.

Thanks my boy for such a memorable trip and I'm looking forward to our next trip soon. :)
